If you’re in the market for a new computer monitor, the first place you’d think to look would be your local computer parts dealer. Take a moment, though, and think again. Computer monitors vary greatly in quality and price, especially in the higher end models. Often you can find a better deal by looking online. Many computer stores, such as Best Buy or Target, allow you to browse their inventories online, allowing you to compare prices and find deals before you even get in your car to go shopping.
When you’re looking for monitors online, keep the shipping costs in mind. Computer monitors, especially the larger (but cheaper) CRTs, are large, bulky, heavy items, and the shipping can be very high. Keep an eye out for computer monitors with free shipping offers. Often a website will offer free shipping on orders over a certain amount. Consider buying something else you need as well in order to get free shipping – you could save as much as twenty or thirty dollars on shipping alone. If all you need is something cheap, such as a CRT monitor, you may be better off just buying one after all. 21 inch CRT monitors are often as cheap as fifty or sixty dollars; only a fourth as much as the average equivalent LCD (thin screen) computer monitors. On the downside, they are also much larger and heavier. So get online and check out computer monitors for the stores in your area. When you find the best deal, drive down and pick one up. By knowing what you’re looking for beforehand you can get the best possible monitor for your needs. |
