Name badges for conventions are a necessity, a convenience and prevent awkward moments between attendees and exhibit personnel. Knowing whom you are talking too helps to make for smoother conversations for both the exhibitor and the convention visitor. At conventions that do not have a trade show attached, name badges are still very useful for remembering names and helping with introductions.
There are two ways most name badges are acquired. The convention usually provides them with the registration. Business people who work many trade shows use name badges that are engraved with their name and company logo or name. Many conventions use the name badges as a way to keep only registered people from entering convention rooms. Convention badges show that the entrant has already paid the convention fee. Name badges come in many forms. They may be attached to a lanyard worn around the neck or pinned to the shirt pocket. Name badges may be printed on a special paper with a covered tacky backside, which will allow the wearer to remove the backing and apply the convention badge to their shirt or jacket. These paper badges are not very sturdy and look a little ragged at the end of the convention or trade show. Name badges for conventions make a room full of strangers less of a stranger. Being able to call each other by name, makes for friendlier conversation. Also, many people are bad with names and being able to read the name helps them remember by name the person they are speaking with. |
